Friends and Members:
The other day as I reached out my hand to help my son get out of a chair and I was reminded of how important the hand is in communicating between peoples. One of the most famous stained glass windows shows the Hand of God descending out of a cloud towards the earth and each of us. The touch of another can be and most often is special. When a baby cries in a crib what do they feel first? The loving hands of mother or father. When a young person falls off their bike and skins their knee the touch of a family member can take away those tears. Holding hands and walking along a path two people with deep friendship stop and holding hands watch a stream go by as they stand under a bridge. The surgeon’s hands take care and begin removing the pain causing section. In the old days it was wonderful when you were a patient in the hospital to have the nurse come in and rub warn solution on your back before you went to sleep. During COVID we all missed being able to shake hands with each other. There are so many ways we communicate with our hands. I took a class once in a program called “Healing Touch.” It has to do with the energy that is emitted by your hands and the energy or lack of same from the body. I can not do it any more because as I have aged, my hands are not as sensitive as they were. We are all God’s children and God’s voice and presence on this earth. Reaching out with our hands to help others and express love is actually God’s hands on this earth. What a wonderful gift we all are given and are able to share!
